Option A · Los Feliz
Barnsdall Art Park
A hilltop lawn under olive trees, Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House next door, and the sun sliding down behind the Hollywood Hills.
A picnic proposal · two spots · two (open) weekends
One mat, one playlist, two(ché!) very good parks. Check the sky, tap a card, and watch the plan tear you apart (in a good way, sorry, I had to make it rhyme).
The forecast for both spots, both weekends. Tap the day that works for you and everything below follows it.
Weather: Saturday the 17th is a scorcher, with a heat advisory until 8 pm, so if it's this weekend, Sunday is the kinder pick. Next weekend cools off into the 70s and low 80s, which is about as good as picnic weather gets, though it's still a long-range forecast and may wiggle. Tuesday to Thursday in between looks showery.
Checking for a fresher forecast…
Snapshot as of Fri, Oct 16, 2026. This weekend: National Weather Service point forecast for Hollywood (NWS) for Barnsdall, and AccuWeather West LA (AccuWeather) for UCLA. Next weekend is past the NWS 7-day window, so both spots use AccuWeather's long-range outlook (Los Angeles, West LA). The "Live" line under each spot comes from Open-Meteo each time this page loads.
Tap a card to choose it. Once it's yours, tap squares to daub them on the day. Five in a row is bingo.

Option B · Westwood
A wander through the Mathias Botanical Garden, then the mat goes down in the Murphy Sculpture Garden among 70-odd sculptures and the coral trees.
I bring the mat and the music, you (or we) bring the snacks and drinks, and we eat, chat, laugh, and read side by side while the tunes play, or the birds sing, or, in true LA style, the cars rumble past haha.
The picnic mat, a little speaker, and the playlist below.
Snacks and drinks, whatever you're in the mood for. Though bringing yourself alone would qualify as a "snack" haha.
A book each, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a light layer in case we stay for sunset.
Sixteen songs, about an hour, loosely ordered from "unpacking the snacks" to "sun's going down." Tap any track to find it on Spotify.
